Over seven years ago my family switched over to an organic lifestyle when buying groceries and health care products. What is organic you may ask? "Organic agriculture is an ecological production management system that promotes and enhances biodiversity, biological cycles and soil biological activity. It is based on minimal use of off-farm inputs and on management practices that restore, maintain and enhance ecological harmony" as defined by the USDA National Organic Standards Board (NOSB).
There are many reasons to eat organic mentioned by Renée Loux, including: avoiding chemicals, benefiting from more nutrients, enjoying better taste, avoiding GMO's, hormones, antibiotics, drugs in animal products, preserving our ecosystems, reducing pollution, protecting water and soil, preserving agricultural diversity, supporting farming directly, keeping our children and future safe.
I have become more consciously aware about what I buy, eat, and use on my body. There are many reasons to become aware of what you consume and use on a regular basis and the impacts on your health and the environment. Want to know more about what you are buying?
